Several Coffees Coming Soon

Today I ordered several coffees. Some of these are new batches of origins already on our shelves or things we've recently run out of. Others are from origins we have not carried in a while.

I've roasted all of the Rwandan, Tanzanian, and Ethiopian currently in the shop, but these have all been ordered. The Ethiopian will be gone by the time the new batch arrives, but we should be out of it for only a few days. The last of the Rwandan and Tanzanian were roasted more recently and I suspect I'll be able to figure out the new lots before running out of the existing supply. As Viking Blend Espresso currently contains 3% Tanzanian and 3% Rwandan, this blend will likely need to be adjusted.

We are bringing back Timor Maubesse Fair Trade Certified, Peru Norte Fair Trade Certified, Honduras Fair Trade Certified, and Sulawesi Toraja.

We will soon be out of El Salvador Santa Rita. Before the end of the year, we will run out of Yemen Mocha Sanani. The new Yemeni coffee is expected to be held up in customs, so it is unlikely that we will be able to bring it in before the first of the year. New coffee from Java, while expected in port this week, is also expected to be held up. I will try to bring these back early in 2005.

A few other coffees have been ordered, mainly because sales projections show that we will run out of our current supply of them during the Christmas rush. There will probably be some notable differences between the current lot and the next one for at least one of these, but I'll mention that closer to the transition. We will be busy with the seasonal rush, so the chances are good that I'll try to figure out the new lots a little sooner than I normally would. Most of them are things I currently use in blends.

Once the Rwandan, Tanzanian, Ethiopian, Timor, Peru, Honduras, and Sulawesi are figured out, I'll start work on the 2004 edition of Holiday Blend. It's a little later than I like to start, but I suspect I will be able to find a much better Holiday Blend with these new coffees than without them.
