The first thing on my list today was checking the rest of the new coffees.
While cupping the Sulawesi Toraja, I found the spice notes of earlier lots to be lacking, but I tried to select a sample with a good flavor and some of the dark roast flavor of the last Sulawesi. After tasting a test batch with drip preparation, I was pleased to discover that hints of allspice and cloves can still be found in the flavor along with milk chocolate notes. The flavor profile of this coffee is very complex and it changes several times as it cools. While dark, the coffee is quite smooth.
The decaffeinated Mexican turned out quite a bit different than the last lot. It is very sweet. If you normally drink your coffee with a little sugar, please try this one without. As this is so different, the label on this coffee will also be a little different. It will read "Mexican Pluma 3 Oros" rather than just "Mexican".
Decaffeinated Vienna Roast translated from the cupping almost exactly. It's just a bit smoother than the old decaffeinated Vienna Roast and is available now.
