Summer is typically our slow season, but things have still been busy on the roasting side. The past few days have been especially fun.
In February I was in Ethiopia as a judge for a competition. The coffees that placed highest in this competition are going up for auction soon, so I got a set of samples. I spent Sunday roasting these samples. This was the longest session I've had on my Diedrich SR-1 sample roaster and I was delighted with how well it performed. I love finally being able to take a couple dozen samples of different coffees and roast them to the same profile. On Monday I cupped these coffees and yesterday we had a tasting event after hours where customers had the opportunity to try all of these coffees. I had a lot of fun introducing the coffees and answering questions. Now I just need to get a bidding group together.
Today I ordered new crop Guatemalan, so we will have that back in stock within a couple weeks.
